Fly Like an Eagle into the Future
By
Pastor LaCricia Hlavinka

“And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear… (Isaiah 17:3)  …

This is not a day to be fearful and downcast.  In lieu of the present circumstances of the U.S., one may be tempted to withdraw from faith and live in fear because of the uncertain future.  The economy is weak, the nation’s security is threatened, and a sense of insecurity creeps in like a plague.  “What if I loose my job, what about my investments, retirement, my business?  People are being laid off daily.  What shall become of me?”  “I know no safety in my homeland:  biological warfare, airplanes crashing, buildings destroying!  Who can I trust?  I Fear for my children, my parents, my husband, my wife,” fear announces from within.

Fear steals our dreams, depresses our motivation, blurs our vision, and captivates our spirit.
Fear draws back but faith presses forward.  Fear immobilizes but faith moves mountains.  Fear allows the circumstances to speak but faith speaks to the circumstances.  Fear makes us to believe we are fragile and helpless.  Faith makes us to know our boldness and determination.

Uncertainty is our greatest allie.  It is the source from which we triumph!  Our purpose becomes clear and well defined.  We loose sight of the chariots and horses in which we have trusted.  Egypt becomes a thing of the past.   We realize that we have put confidence in our government and our jobs to know a secure future.  A time of indetermination invades life, as we have known it.  Fear violates our daily routine.  We are awakened and identify that we had enveloped ourselves in a false security.

Seeing the sinking ground around us, we notice somehow we had traveled from the Rock.  In our ambiguity our search intensifies.  Our priorities begin to line up.  We look for that certainty.  Then as if He had been waiting for us all along the Rock emerges.  As we stand on that Rock our vision sharpens.  Like eyes of eagles we see and understand our destiny.  Faith arises from within, our footing is sure and determination, unprecedented.

Herewith we discover our strength.  Our help cometh from the Lord.  We return back to our true identity.  Our identity had been lost in the falsehood of our trust.  It is He, the Lord God, who has power over every power, Him will I trust.  I will not be afraid of the terror by night nor for the arrow that flies by day nor the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor the destruction that is at the noonday.  I belong to the Lord; He is my refuge, my strength, and my shield.  He knows how to care for that which belongs to Him.

I shall mount up with wings as eagles; I shall run, and not be weary; and I shall walk, and not faint.  (Isaiah 40:31)

Like an eagle I fly with faith into my future!
